WHITE MARSH - Baltimore County Police shot one person on Tuesday during an attempted arrest in White Marsh.

According to police, around 6:00 a.m., detectives were trying to arrest two wanted suspects at a Royal Farms store at the intersection of Pulaski Highway and Ebenezer Road.

Police say that during the arrest, the suspects struck a police vehicle with their car, which resulted in one of the detectives firing their weapon and hitting one of the suspects in their vehicle.

"As they were attempting to make that arrest, the suspects struck one of our detectives' vehicles. At that point, one of our detectives discharged their firearm," Baltimore County police spokeswoman Joy Stewart said.

According to police, the suspect tried to drive away before colliding with another civilian vehicle.

After the suspect's car came to a stop, both occupants were taken into custody, and police administered first aid to the injured person.

Officials said the injured person was taken to an area hospital and is in critical condition.

"No officer was injured during this incident," Stewart said. "The shooting itself is being investigated by detectives with the Baltimore County Police Department's Criminal Investigation Bureau."

The intersection of Pulaski Highway and Ebenezer Road was shut down for hours on Tuesday morning as the suspect's wrecked Kia remained on the road for investigation.
