BALTIMORE COUNTY - The Maryland Board of Elections has listed the 2024 primary election date as April 23, 2024.

Only one problem, April 23, 2024, happens to be the first day of the Jewish Holiday, Passover.

Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski and Baltimore City Mayor Brandon Scott have contacted the Maryland General Assembly to address this issue.

"We recognize that changing the date of the primary election requires an act of the General Assembly, and I write today to share Baltimore County's strong support of efforts to adjust the date of Maryland's 2024 Primary Election in order to more fully accommodate our Jewish residents. Baltimore County remains willing to work in partnership with you all to support this adjustment and remains prepared to provide the resources and support necessary to ensure a smooth and successful primary election," Olszewski wrote.

"As Mayor, I believe it is our responsibility to ensure that all members of our community are able to participate in our democratic process without obstacles or barriers, Scott added.
