BALTIMORE COUNTY - Qualifying BCPS students will be eligible for free meals starting next school year.
Officials confirmed that the free meals program will return in the 2023-2024 school year at Tuesday’s Baltimore County Board of Education meeting.
Last summer, the federal government ended the free meals program made available during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic to aid struggling families.
WYPR reached out to Charles Herndon, a spokesman for the school system, who said that the details of how the program will operate and be funded remain undecided.
“We are not at the point yet where we can discuss details as those are still being worked out, but we anticipate being able to announce news about this issue later in the spring,” Herndon wrote in an email.
