BALTIMORE COUNTY - Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski is inviting residents to nominate individuals for the first-ever Baltimore County Community Heroes Awards.

The awards will honor seven people, one from each County Council district, who have made significant contributions to their communities.

Olszewski explained that these awards aim to celebrate individuals who selflessly dedicate their time to advocate for their neighbors and their communities.

"I urge everyone to nominate their own community heroes and look forward to honoring those tireless individuals whose work and dedication to their communities make Baltimore County a great place to live, work and raise a family," Olszewski said.

All current Baltimore County residents are eligible for nomination, except for current Baltimore County employees or elected officials. A community hero can create programs to meet community needs, promote and celebrate diversity, advocate for vulnerable residents, or volunteer at local institutions in need, among other things.

Nominations should be submitted online and include a description, 350 words or less, about the nominee and their contact information. The deadline for submissions is June 30, 2023.

The award recipients will be recognized at Baltimore County's second annual Community Leaders Summit, scheduled for September 28, 2023.
