BALTIMORE COUNTY - The Maryland State Highway Administration and Maryland State Police have announced two temporary traffic slow-downs and complete traffic halts on both the inner and outer loops of I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) in Parkville.

The closures and slow-downs are scheduled for Wednesday, July 26, 2023, near the Putty Hill Road bridge in the Parkville area.

According to MDOTSHA, the traffic interruptions on I-695 may occur anytime between midnight and 4 a.m. on July 26, each lasting for up to 15 minutes.

These scheduled disruptions will enable a telecommunications utility firm to securely install a new transmission cable across the entire I-695. This utility cable installation is a preparatory task for an upcoming project set to replace the Putty Hill Road bridge over I-695.

Motorists are urged to account for potential delays, maintain vigilance, concentrate on the road ahead for potential traffic slow-downs between MD 147 (Harford Road) and US 1 (Belair Road), and heed the instructions of MSP troopers and traffic management personnel present along this I-695 stretch.

In the event of unfavorable weather conditions, the utility operations and traffic halts will be deferred to Thursday, July 27, or an alternative suitable date.

For inquiries about this work, individuals can contact the State Highway Administration District 4 Office – Utility Section via their contact number at 410-229-2300 or toll-free at 1-866-998-0367.

Johnny Cliche then added, “Cable installation is the meat and potatoes of the needs of a family. Without cable, we can’t watch reality shows, and reality is life. And cable is something we all need in order to make Baltimore County great.”
