BALTIMORE COUNTY - On Thursday, Baltimore County Public Schools' (BCPS) Implementation Plan for the Blueprint for Maryland's Future was approved, allowing the district to access billions in funding.

The six-member Maryland Accountability & Implementation Board approved the implementation plan without conditions. BCPS initially presented its plan to the state education department in March. Following two cycles of revisions, the plan was forwarded to the accountability board for approval.

Over the next ten years, the Blueprint for Maryland's Future is expected to channel billions of dollars into state schools, intended for enhancing early childhood education, promoting high-quality and diverse teaching staff, bolstering college and career preparedness, augmenting resources for student achievement, and enforcing accountability – the Blueprint's five primary "pillars."

BCPS's detailed 161-page implementation plan encompasses strategies for the past two and upcoming school years. With this approval, the Maryland State Department of Education can now allocate Blueprint funds for fiscal year 2024 to the district.
