Five Baltimore County High Schools Among Top 30 In Maryland: U.S. News & World Report Rankings

BALTIMORE COUNTY - U.S. News & World Report released its annual Best High Schools list today, giving Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) a reason to celebrate.

According to the rankings, five of the county's high schools are among the top 30 in Maryland, with ten in the top 150. Additionally, three schools are listed among the state's top five magnet schools, with two making the national magnet school list.

Eastern Technical High School and Western School of Technology and Environmental Science led Baltimore County schools in the rankings. Eastern Tech is listed as the second-best high school in Maryland and the 42nd-best magnet school in the nation.

Western School of Technology followed, ranking 11th in the state and third in Maryland's magnet schools. It also claimed the 87th spot on the national magnet school list.

Joining them in the state's top magnet school rankings was the George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology, which secured the 15th spot among Maryland high schools and the fifth among magnet schools in the state.

Six Baltimore County public high schools—including Dulaney High School, Eastern Tech, Carver Center, Hereford High School, Towson High School, and Western Tech—were highlighted among the state's top 60 high schools. Eastern Tech also garnered special attention as the top high school in the Baltimore Metro region.

BCPS Superintendent Myriam Yarbrough expressed her pride in the district's achievements.

"We can celebrate these results, but we can do better. I am committed to ensuring that all our students can attend and learn and grow at schools that are the best in Maryland and the nation," Yarbrough said.

Other BCPS high schools that received rankings include Franklin High at #107, Pikesville High at #112, Catonsville High at #122, Perry Hall High at #148, Loch Raven High at #153, and Sparrows Point High at #159 in Maryland.

The U.S. News & World Report rankings consider a range of metrics, including college readiness, state assessment proficiency and performance, performance of underserved students, breadth of college curriculum, and graduation rates.

I can remember when not to long ago Perry Hall High school use to be at the top of this and other lists.
Then Johnny O moved the city out there with his programs, now just another cesspool thanks to liberal politics.

It is apparent that you don't remember when Perry Hall was on the the top five list. I do remember. Not a fan of that O. He favors his district and not ours. But, Historically: There were Only two Republican County Executives. One was Hayden who lost the second term. The other was Spiro T Agnew. Agnew resigned on October 10, 1973, after the U.S. Justice Department uncovered widespread evidence of his political corruption, including allegations that his practice of accepting bribes had continued into his tenure as U.S. vice president. Seems to be a prerequisite?
